Human Cancer Statistics
There are more than 200 types of cancer. There are many different organs in the body, and each organ has a variety of types of cells. Cancer can develop in almost
all of these cells. Therefore, the characteristics of a specific cancer depends from which organ and which cell they originated.
The most common cancers are:

There were 8.2 million deaths from cancer in the world in 2012.
Cancer Survival
50% of adult cancer patients diagnosed in 2010‐2011 in England and Wales are predicted to survive 10 or more years.
46% of men and 54% of women cancer patients diagnosed in 2010‐2011 in England and Wales are predicted to survive 10 or more years.
Cancer survival in the UK has doubled in the last 40 years.
