Complementary Cancer Research
This website is design to provide information about cancer, complementary cancer treatments and useful tips and links.
A diagnosis with cancer can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Armed with the right information, your experience
can be under your control.
According to Cancer Research UK, up to 33% of those with cancer use some form of complementary cancer therapy at some point during their illness. In fact, with
some sorts of cancer, such as breast cancer, the number of people using complementary cancer therapies is closer to 50%.
People who use complementary therapies often use them to feel better and to help them cope with having both treatment and the cancer itself. How a person
feels can have a huge impact upon how they cope with cancer. This is why many complementary therapies focus upon reducing stress and improving patients’
levels of relaxation.
Some cancer patients find that having conventional cancer treatment can be quite impersonal and that they do not feel as though they have much say about what
is going on. On the other hand, they feel that complementary therapies give them the opportunity to have greater control over their treatment and recovery. This
may also result in the patient feeling that they are in better control of their emotions and feelings.
Many of the people using complementary therapies may also feel that they are non‐toxic and more natural than conventional treatments. However, it is important
to make sure that any complementary therapy that is being used is safe and will not undermine any conventional treatments that are being used.
