Gerson Therapy
The Therapy utilises the body’s ability to heal itself by means of an organic, vegetarian diet, which incorporates raw juices, natural supplements and coffee
enemas.
The Gerson Therapy encompasses a whole body approach by naturally activating the body’s ability to heal itself, with no apparent damaging side effects. It works
by boosting the body’s immune system and claims to help those with cancer, arthritis, heart disease, allergies and many other degenerative diseases. A plethora of
nutrients are consumed every day from thirteen fresh, organic juices, these provide the body with a large dose of minerals, enzymes and nutrients. The minerals,
enzymes and nutrients apparently help to break down the diseased tissues in the body, while the enemas eliminate toxins that have built up in the liver.
Throughout our lives, according to the Gerson Institute, our bodies are filled with pollutants that cause various diseases, as well as cancer. These reach us through
the water we drink, the food we eat, the medicines we take and even the air we breathe. As more of these poisons become evident within the world we live in and
cancer rates continue to rise, the Institute believes that being able to turn to a natural, detoxifying program, such as the Gerson Therapy, is not only helpful, but
necessary. Although the concept of cleansing, detoxifying and reactivating the body is simple; the Gerson Therapy is a complex treatment which requires
significant attention to detail in order to achieve the best results.
Even though the Gerson Therapy seems a little extreme and there is some concern that ground coffee enemas can cause colitis (inflammation of the bowel), fluid
and electrolyte imbalances, and in some cases septicemia; it makes sense to change your diet so that it is more nutritious when suffering from cancer, in order to
give your body all of the nutrients that it needs to boost your immune system and help fight off the disease. Cutting out unhealthy, processed foods that are high
in both salt and fat content, is sensible at any stage of life and especially when experiencing an illness.
